Install
Boot the ISO, follow the installer, and log in. A virtual machine is the easiest way to start.
Before you start
- 15 GB of disk space and 1 GB of RAM.
- Turn Secure Boot off in your VM or firmware settings.
- Try it in a virtual machine first. It is the easiest way to look around, and it leaves your computer untouched.
- If you use a physical machine, back up anything you care about first.
1. Boot
The boot menu has two choices:
- Install Orus OS, the default after five seconds. It starts the installer.
- Try Orus OS, a full live session, with an Install Orus OS entry in the launcher if you decide to keep it.
2. The installer
- Welcome. It checks the requirements above.
- License. Shows the Orus runtime’s license, the Business Source License 1.1.
- Language and keyboard.
- Disk. Choose where to install.
- Account. Your name, username and password.
- Summary, then the install runs.
- Done. Restart into your new system.
The installer removes itself and the live-session packages when it finishes.
3. Log in
A quiet, dark login screen: the Orus logo, the clock, your avatar and a password field. Enter your password.
4. Your first minute
- The desktop starts empty, with a top bar and a dock.
- Press Super+Space to open the launcher.
- Documents, Downloads and Pictures are ready. Pictures has samples to open in Viewer.
- Open Settings to choose a theme and accent.
Verify your download
